Day 325
Sunday 27 July 2014
This is Orlando.
I met Orlando probably 9 months ago. He worked at Sumo Salad which is a few blocks from the theatre. Good go to healthy lunch place on the way to work.
Anyways, he was always super friendly and we usually had some sort of laugh when I got my salad. That was about the extent of it.
I realized hadn’t seen him for about a month and a half. Assumed he moved on or what not.
Then, walking home from work a few nights ago, I literally ran into him on the street not too far from my place.
I said, “Hey! How have you been? WHERE have you been?”
He stood outside this beautiful looking shop and said, “This is mine!” while pointing to the storefront.
I said, “You’re working here now?”
He said, “No! This is my shop! We open TOMORROW! Please come by for free cupcakes!”
I have to say, and I know I barely know him, well, honestly, I don’t know him at all really, but I was SO PROUD of this guy. He has been working at this for a long time. And finally was able to launch his brand and first brick and mortar store.
I went back today and bought a dozen cupcakes for the clan at the office.
AND THEY ARE INCREDIBLE.
When you’re in Sydney, make your way to Darlinghurst and get yourself some cupcakes.
And say hi to Orlando. Because he’s a cool dude. And he had a dream. (That’s right JJ!). And he is making it happen.
Black Velvet Sydney. BV Sydney. Do it.
Go Orlando!
Such an amazning and inpsirational story. Go Oralndo!
Isn’t it though??? So excited for him and the future of his company! You would LOVE these cupcakes. OMG.
