Day 87
Sunday 1 Dec 2013
Happy December…my that came fast!
We have two days off heading into the first preview this coming week. We have been off Sundays, but now we switch the day off to Mondays – so Sunday AND Monday off!
I felt I needed to see something new as I have been pretty much bound to Sydney for the rehearsal period. So, I jumped in Bluey and headed south…to Jervis Bay!
Josephine, pretty much my Aussie expert guide (she really knows her shit people), suggested I head down to the beaches of the Jervis Bay area and check it out. She also suggested I try to stay…well…in probably the most special place I’ve ever stayed actually. Certainly the most unique.
Paperbark Camp.
“Combining unique luxury tented accommodation with wonderful food & warm hospitality, Paperbark Camp is a peaceful bush retreat in beautiful Jervis Bay – think camping for grown-ups! Just over two hours drive from Sydney on the unspoilt south coast of NSW, Jervis Bay is a nature lovers paradise with spectacular coastal scenery, clear and calm water for swimming and pristine white sand beaches for strolling and relaxing on…”
It was perfection. In a tent. And a canoe. And on their bikes. Delicious food. Fantastic people. Ben, the GM, was awesome and gracious. Hot shower and free standing tub in the tent…I mean, really?
Glamping all the way.
Australia folks – if you can swing it – DO IT. Treat yourself. I scored a day off special by calling that morning. Can’t hurt to try. Perfect way to unwind and get away from it all.
So, so, so special.
This was my tent. Sleeping in that bed with a full tummy of delicious paella while listening to the quiet murmur of the bush at night with the cool air blowing through the tent was, again…perfection.
